Quilters [A Musical Celebration] by Molly Newman and Barbara Damashek
Performances June 18-21, 25-28 Season Calendar>>>
Quilters tells the story of one family and every family, one woman and every woman in the thrilling backdrop of frontier life. An unforgettable ensemble of women relate the many different facets of joys and hardships faced by pioneer women and their families. Stories of love, childbirth, disaster, family, death, and ultimately, triumph, are woven together through song, dance, and the "blocks" that create a quilt. Based on The Quilters: Women and Domestic Art by Patricia Cooper and Norma Bradley Allen and inspired by many other works, including Women's Diaries of the Westward Journey, Quilters offers a uniquely authentic look into a time in our history when everyday living was a lesson in survival and families were the necessary stitches that bound us together. A musical the New York Post hailed, "...a thing of comfort, beauty, and joy," Tidewater Regional Repertory hopes you will join us in discovering the challenges and rewards in these great American stories. |
